This tutorial will lead you through the process of capturing, processing and presenting panoramic images.
It is designed to highlight certain points that are imperative for improved quality.

1. Shooting the images...

These 14 images rendered the image below...

T A Tripod is a very handy tool as it is stable and your image is shot as straight in line as is possible.A tripod with a spirit level allows you to set your shot to the horizon if you wish. The tripod will also allow you to stop down your aperture (f32) for best depth of field should you be trying to capture a vast landscape.
V Shoot a vertical (portrait) shot. This gives you a greater height, or greater resolution if you zoom in, for your final image.
E As for the exposure many things need to be considered... Where is the sun? Is the sky evenly coloured across the shot? How does the light differ across the areas of the shots. The best thing to do is to allow for over and under exposure as one does in spot metering. Give the subject priority but remember as you are shooting digital you have your lab to help you allow for a little over or under exposure here and there.
F Set your focus on the subject and then turn auto-focus off, so that the focus doesn't bother you during your sweep.
Q Shoot as quickly as possible without compromising the sharpness of the image (motion-blur) Some elements move more than others and cause ghosting (faded person in two places) on the final image.

2. Stitching the images...

Your final image will only be as good as your original shots and the software you use to stitch.

Recommended software - The Panorama Factory by Smoky City Design

Other software - Canon Photostitch, PTGui, Panostitcher, Panoweaver

3. Touch Ups in your digital Lab...

Recommended software - Windows and Apple Adobe Photoshop

Other software - UNIX Gimp, Apple Aperture, Microsoft Expression

4. Printing a Panoramic...

To be truly effective the image needs to be printed quite large. 1200mm X 400mm and bigger.
Finding a good print reproduction house is imperative as they will directly influence the quality of the final print.
Shop around, its worth the time spent...

I hope that this page helps you create some remarkable images.
Enjoy your creation...
